The Technical Group of Battery Manufacturing is a project type group. This group has been conducting research and development to achieve high performance and large capacity of Li-ion battery from the time of group start. However the group is forced to modify the direction of activities due to ignition accident of battery. It will be studied hereafter how to contribute to the development of next-generation batteries which satisfy the conditions of safety, durability and low-cost.
Current level of technology, trend and activities in future
Automakers are developing and commoditizing various electric vehicles such as hybrid car, plug-in hybrid car, EV, range extender EV. As the result, there is a tendency of multiproduct in-the field of car battery. Corresponding to various materials, flexibility and creating database is necessary in battery manufacturing equipment. Collaboration of equipment makers, material makers and battery makers is indispensable for global development.
