The Technical Group of Battery Manufacturing is a project type group. This group has been conducting research and development to achieve high performance and large capacity of Li-ion battery from the time of group start. However the group is forced to modify the direction of activities due to ignition accident of battery. It will be studied hereafter how to contribute to the development of next-generation batteries which satisfy the conditions of safety, durability and low-cost.
Current level of technology, trend and activities in future
In overseas markets, EV batteries and batteries for power storage have spread very fast, and battery technology, materials and devices have become obsolete in three years. It is required to quickly collect the latest information on next-generation batteries to develop and commercialize manufacturing equipment for next-generation battery in collaboration with companies.
