What is the Technical Group of Comminution?
The Technical Group of Comminution, cofounded in the early 1970s with the seven other technical groups of the Association of Powder Process Industry and Engineering, Japan (APPIE), has a long history of contributing to the advancement of the field of comminution, and impacting industry in Japan. Comminution is a fundamental process in powder processing, and is essential in the production of advanced materials. A focus of the Comminution Technology Group in Japan is to produce powder with the desired characteristics (e.g., controlled particle size, size distribution, and shape) for a given application.
Current level of technology, trend and activities in future
- Comminution is the starting point of production process of powder and widely used from basic to frontier industries. This group plans to have meetings intended to collect information from the areas of resources, energy and food to cutting-edge areas. The group aims to promote collaboration with users, too.
- New processing technologies of compounding and synthetics of particles are being developed on the basis of comminution. This group will collect information on such new developments and drive technology exchange.
- Educational activities are crucial for growth of industry of our country. The comminution technology guidance and early training course of comminution have many participants. The group is convinced of the importance of education of comminution from such numbers. This group is determined to continuously play a core role in education.
- Globalization is important for Japanese comminution technology to expand its market in the world. The group will make plans of international exchange and will advance globalization on a footing of previous activities.
