About us
Activities of this group are in the main to hold lecture courses of drying and to conduct plant tours. The group tries to collect domestic and overseas information of the current state of drying technology and the future trend concerning environmental problem and energy saving etc. It is planned to make this group an information source of drying. Moreover, the group cooperates with the APPIE Education Division in the Early Training Course to train young engineers.
Current level of technology, trend and activities in future
The current drying technology reaches a level that overcomes problems such as (1) maintaining quality and performance in the drying process, (2) coping with environmental problems (treatment of exhaust gas, volume reduction of waste, improvement of machinery cleaning), (3) saving energy (heat pump dryer etc.), (4) completing multipurpose drying and hybrid-functionality drying (drying with filtration, drying with crystallization and drying with palletization) and (5) development of technologies of manpower saving for shortage of human resources.
It is required hereafter to solve the following problems with keywords such as save-energy, environment and safety, process optimization and quality control. (1) development of drying technology based on clean energy and aggressive response to environment and ecology, (2) development of closed process with no pollution, (3) technology based on process integration (application of IoT and AI) , (4) control of physical properties of materials, quality and functional capability, and new functional capability in the drying process, (5) Further deepening of labor-saving technology.
This group will plan and implement technical tours and lecture meetings to enable members to get valuable information on the current drying technology, domestic and abroad, and on future movement. The group will act as an information source of drying technology for solving problems in factory floor. Further, the group will cooperate with the APPIE Early Training Course to train young engineers.
