Transportation

About us

The Technical Group of Transport was formed in 1989, by organizing makers and users of bulk-solid conveyers mainly of West Japan. We conduct activities partially in cooperation with bulk-handling technical group, because we have common interest. Our main activities are developing unexplored markets and finding new trends of transport technology. We are interested in future issues, such as resolution of fixing contamination, development of energy saving technology, applications of numerical simulation and novel measuring technique.

Current level of technology, trend and activities in future

  1. In the field of pneumatic conveying, the mainstream is to use high-concentration low-speed conveying and low-concentration high-speed depending on the physical properties of the powder. In mechanical conveying, the technology to reduce contamination is required and progress is being made. In addition to the transport of easily crushable materials and adherent powders, the future technical issue is to meet the increasingly sophisticated demands for transporting multi-component powders without separation.
  2. With the dramatic improvement of computational capabilities, the use of numerical simulations for various types of powder operations is expanding, and the application of numerical simulations to the development of powder transportation technology, including the possibility of using general-purpose software, can be expected to grow. In addition, it is necessary to continue investigating the trend of the latest measurement technologies such as image measurement and tomography measurement, and to investigate the possibility of using AI technology.
  3. With an anticipation of the advancement and future development of powder transport technology, it is necessary to investigate trends in new technologies related to powder transport such as 3D printers.
